Dive, Dive, Dive!

Hood Canal, two weeks ago (too long already) with Todd Olson. Learning to work with ropes, tools and other equipment in poor visibility. If it seems dark, noisy, cold, confusing, and basically hard to tell what's up, down, left or right...there you have it. That's exactly how it is.

"Water and air, the two essential fluids on which all life depends, have become global garbage cans."

That was looking dark.

Did you figure out how to tie a knot underwater?

Not any old knot, but a good Eagle Scout knot?

har har. what i found out was the diameter of the rope you're tying is the important factor. 9mm-diameter climbing ripe is nice and thick and easy to tie. anything smaller, i don't want to mess with. i only use four knots for anything outdoors. clove hitch, square knot, bowline, and overhand. in 15 years of climbing i never needed anything else. actually a double fisherman's is good to know for joining lines, but anyway, that still just makes five knots. yes, i larn't em all in scouts! i learned a lot there that i still use every time i go outside. cheers cameron
